POLYFLUO 523XF is a combination of polyethylene
waxes and PTFE. POLYFLUO 523XF can be readily mixed
into all ink and coating formulations using standard dispersion
techniques and equipment.
POLYFLUO 523XF has been formulated to provide
a combination of optimum rub resistance and hardness
usually associated with polyethylene, along with the
lubricity (slip) provided by PTFE. Each of the components
are designed to provide properties for maximum performance
when incorporated into printing inks, paints and coatings.
POLYFLUO 523XF is a highly efficient and cost
effective additive which, in most cases, can directly
replace high priced PTFE powders.
POLYFLUO 523XF is recommended for use in the
following areas: Flexo, gravure, web offset-heat set,
sheet fed (quick set), ultra violet and metal decorating
printing inks; coil coatings, industrial paints or finishes
and all types of overprint varnishes.
Optimum properties are usually achieved by adding 0.5-3.0%
by weight. The amount required will vary depending on
the type of application and the end use requirements.
At temperatures above 600oF some polymer fumes may
be emitted due to decomposition of the fluorocarbon
polymer. Therefore, smoking should not be permitted
when working with this material.
