POLYFLUO 200 is a unique combination of high melt
point and crystalline polyethylene and PTFE that has been
micronized to a 3.0-4.0 NPIRI grind gauge reading. POLYFLUO
200 can be readily dispersed into printing inks, paints
or coatings with normal dispersion equipment. Pre-dispersion
or additional grinding is usually not necessary.
POLYFLUO 200 has been formulated to impart the
excellent mar and blocking resistance and hardness usually
associated with polyethylene, along with the lubricity
(slip) provided by PTFE. Each of the components are
designed to provide properties for optimum performance
when incorporated into printing inks, paints and coatings.
Optimum properties are usually achieved by adding 0.5-2.0%
by weight. The amount required will vary depending on
the type of application and the end use requirements.
POLYFLUO 200 is recommended for use in the following
areas: flexo, gravure, heatset web offset, sheet fed
(quick set), ultra violet and metal decorating printing
inks; coil coatings, industrial paints or finishes and
all types of overprint varnishes and lacquers.
Due to the high melting point and solubility resistance
of POLYFLUO 200, it is especially effective in
maintaining gloss retention while imparting scratch/mar
resistance and lubricity in top lacquers and high gloss
coatings.
At temperatures above 600oF, some polymer fumes may
be emitted due to decomposition of the PTFE polymer.
Therefore, smoking should not be permitted when working
with this material.
