POLYFLUO 120 is a unique combination of high slip
polyethylene and PTFE that has been micronized to a 2.0-3.0
NPIRI grind gauge reading. POLYFLUO 120 can be
readily incorporated into printing inks, paints and coatings
using standard dispersion techniques. Due to its fine
particle size, pre-dispersion or grinding is eliminated.
POLYFLUO 120 has been formulated to impart excellent
abrasion resistance, hardness and slip from the polyethylene
component, along with lubricity and heat resistance
provided by PTFE. Each of the components are designed
to provide properties for maximum performance.
Optimum properties are usually achieved by adding 0.5-2.0%
by weight. The amount required will vary depending on
the type of application and the end use requirements.
POLYFLUO 120 is recommended for use in the following
areas: Flexo, gravure, heat-set web offset, sheet fed
(quick set) and ultra violet printing inks; coil coatings,
can coatings, industrial paints and finishes, and all
types clear top coats.
POLYFLUO 120 can also be used as a cost effective
replacement for PTFE in printing inks and low viscosity
coatings.
At temperatures above 600 oF (316 oC), some polymer
fumes may be emitted due to decomposition of the PTFE
polymer. Therefore, smoking should not be permitted
when working with this material.
