POLYBLEND 100XF is a unique blend of high density
polyethylene and PTFE that has been micronized to a 1.0-2.0
NPIRI grind gauge reading. Due to its extra fine particle
size, POLYBLEND 100XF can be readily mixed into
all ink and coating systems with conventional dispersion
equipment. Pre-dispersion or excessive grinding is eliminated
using POLYBLEND 100XF and most inks and coatings
can be readily processed using filtration techniques.
POLYBLEND 100XF has been formulated to impart
the excellent rub resistance and hardness usually associated
with polyethylene, along with the lubricity (slip) provided
by PTFE. Each of the components are designed to provide
properties for optimum performance when incorporated
into printing inks, paints and coatings.
Optimum properties are usually achieved by adding 1-3%
by weight. The amount required will vary depending on
the type of application and the end use requirements.
POLYBLEND 100XF is recommended for use in the
following areas: Flexo, gravure, web offset-heat set,
sheet fed (quick set), ultra violet and metal decorating
printing inks; coil coatings, industrial paints or finishes
and all types of overprint varnishes.
POLYBLEND 100XF is especially effective in improving
apparent adhesion and scratch resistance of flexographic
and gravure inks on non-porous substrates and in high
solids/low energy heat set inks where maximum abrasion
resistance is required.
At temperatures above 600oF some polymer fumes may
be emitted due to decomposition of the fluorocarbon
polymer. Therefore, smoking should not be permitted
when working with this material.
