MICROSPERSION 523 is a unique aqueous dispersion
of finely micronized polyethylene and PTFE waxes which
have been dispersed at 40% wax solids. MICROSPERSION
523 allows the formulator to use highly efficient
and carefully controlled micronized waxes in liquid form.
MICROSPERSION 523 has been formulated to provide
a combination of optimum rub resistance and hardness
usually associated with polyethylene, along with the
lubricity (slip) provided by PTFE. Each of the components
are designed to provide properties for maximum performance
when incorporated into printing inks, paints and coatings.
Additions of 0.5 - 5.0% (by weight) of MICROSPERSION
523 will provide optimum performance. MICROSPERSION
523 is a highly efficient and cost effective wax
dispersion which can replace 100% PTFE additives in
most cases.
MICROSPERSION 523 is recommended for use in
the following areas: water based flexo graphic and gravure
printing inks, can coatings, industrial paints or finishes
and all types of water reducible overprint varnishes
or topcoats.
At temperatures above 600°F some polymer fumes may
be emitted due to decomposition of the fluorocarbon
polymer. Therefore, smoking should not be permitted
when working with this material.
